Tekanan minyak pam maksimum pam bahan api bergantung pada standard pengehad tekanan. Jika tekanan pam bahan api melebihi had tekanan yang telah ditetapkan, pengehad tekanan akan membuka pintasan untuk membolehkan bahan api mengalir kembali ke salur masuk pam bahan api.
